About Mackinaw Solar
Upon completion, this project is anticipated to generate up to 500 megawatts of clean, renewable electric power; enough to power up to 100,000 Illinois homes. The 3,000-acre solar farm site is set in an ideal portion of the state to serve multiple markets in either PJM or MISO.

Total Capital Investment
Project History
Mackinaw Solar represents a total capital investment of approximately $400 million and is expected to become operational in 2029, with a 30-year life cycle from commercial operation. This project will help advance Illinois’ ambitious climate goals by injecting a significant amount of renewable electric power into the grid, while generating new tax payments that will provide Tazewell County with millions of additional dollars, without requiring additional county services.
