The Great Bend Solar Project is a utility-scale solar PV facility located in Meigs County, southeastern Ohio, along the Ohio River near the state’s border with West Virginia. Great Bend Solar is Doral Renewables’ first project in Ohio and second to reach operations.

About Great Bend Solar
Over its lifespan, the project is expected to contribute more than $400,000 annually in new tax revenue to Meigs County. At peak construction, Great Bend Solar employed about 250 workers—85% of whom were local—supporting the regional economy.

Project History
The project is well-capitalized, having secured both debt financing from HSBC and tax equity financing from Fifth Third Bank, respectively. It has also executed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with a major offtaker, ensuring stability for the project’s future operations. Doral Renewables contracted industry leading vendors to lead the engineering, construction, and procurement (EPC) of the Great Bend project, as well as IHI Power Services to serve the its Operations and Maintenance firm, once completed.
Project Outcome
Interconnected within PJM’s transmission system, Great Bend Solar is has began construction in May 2024. The Great Bend Solar project became fully operational in late 2025.
